USask CI at Saskatoon “Foodtruck Wars Street Festival”

From July 26 to 28, 2019, the 2019 Saskatoon “Foodtruck Wars Street Festival” was held at 20th Street, Saskatoon. More than 3000 audience witnessed this great multi-cultural event. The Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan (USask CI) was invited to perform on July 26 at the Grand Opening.

The USask CI performed Lion Dance, Qipao Show, and traditional Chinese Folk Dance “Beauty Chant”, which were greatly appreciated by the audience.

Apart from the art performances, the USask CI also set up a booth to display Chinese cultural artworks such as Peking Opera masks, Chinese knots, Chinese kite, Chinese calligraphy and paintings, etc. The USask CI volunteer teachers taught audience how to make Chinese knots. Many audience came to the booth to experience Chinese culture.

Both the organizers and the audience greatly approved of and appreciated the participation of the USask CI and expressed their wishes to invite the CI to take part in the event again in the coming year.
